James McConvill is the founder of James McConvill & Associates, and now a consultant to the firm. James has over 10 years post-admission experience in the law. James holds an honours degree in Law and a PhD from Deakin University in Melbourne. He has published several articles in Australia and overseas in leading family law journals, including the International Journal of Law, Policy & the Family published by Oxford University Press in the UK.

James has particular expertise with mediation of disputes, and preparation of Binding Financial Agreements to settle the distribution of property (especially where businesses are involved) in family law matters.


Jas Sekhon is the General Counsel of the firm. In the role of General Counsel, Jas works closely with the Principal, the Marketing Manager and the Business Manager in relation to the strategy, marketing and overall operations of the firm.He is an expert in international family law matters (and in particular cross-border property disputes involving complex business assets), commercial litigation, international tax, trusts and estates.

Jas previously worked with the Ras al-Khaimah (RAK) Free Trade Zone Authority in the United Arab Emirates to establish RAK as a leading international finance centre and was also the Managing Director of a regulated trustee company in Dubai for the global operations of the group, based in London and Switzerland.He has published many leading books and edited many international practitioner publications in domestic and international tax and is a sought after international public speaker.

Jas graduated with a Masters in Law from the University of Sydney, with undergraduate degrees in Law and Jurisprudence (with an Accounting and Financial Management major) from the University of New South Wales. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and has served on various management committees for the same.


Rebecca Cann is the Manager of James McConvill & Associates.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting Major) from the University of Sydney, and an Advanced Diploma of Accounting (with Honours) from Kingscliff TAFE on the Gold Coast.

Rebecca has an immense amount of accounting and book-keeping experience, with both professional services firms and retail/wholesale enterprises. She also has a number of years of practical experience as a paralegal, with particular expertise in family law paralegal work.

Joseph Carbone

Joseph Carbone is a Senior Associate with the firm, bring a wealth of experience from an earlier career in business.

Joseph has developed a practice that focuses in particular on business and property matters, both in relation to family law and general commercial and civil claims. He is also committed to alternative dispute resolution and to the use of parenting plans and binding financial agreements as alternatives to family law proceedings.

Rose Bolat

Rose Bolat is a Senior Lawyer with the Firm. She is a proactive and friendly team member. She has attended many appearances in Family law (including parenting, recovery/relocation, children, property dispute settlements) as well as criminal law-related matters.

Rose first graduated from RMIT University in 2008 with a Bachelors of Social Science: Legal and Dispute Studies. She has also graduated from Victoria University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Laws. Further Rose graduated from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law in 2013 with a Diploma in Legal Practice. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as an Australian Lawyer in 2013.
Rose joined James McConvill & Associates after over 3 years of experience as an admitted Lawyer. Rose is also fluent in the Turkish language and has established a solid foundation within her community.
Previously Rose was a Domestic Relationships Registration Officer and a Civil Marriage Celebrant under Department of Justice at the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Melbourne.
Genuine passion and satisfaction for her work enables Rose to to be approachable and generates the drive for her to achieve the best results whilst meeting client needs.

Luke Seitz

Luke Seitz is a Lawyer with the firm, heading up the Gold Coast division of James McConvill & Associates.

The Gold Coast arm of the firm has particular expertise in Family Law, both in relation to complex financial property settlements and difficult child related matters. Luke is a skilled negotiator and has commercial experience in negotiations and dispute resolution. Luke is a strategic Lawyer, and whilst he is highly effective in negotiating and mediating cases, he is also capable of litigating matters when necessary to achieve the best results for clients. Luke was admitted as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2014, after obtaining the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Laws. Luke graduated with a Law degree from the University of Western Australia, and an undergraduate degree in Business from Curtin University.

Adrian Barbaro
Adrian Barbaro

Adrian Barbaro is a Lawyer with the firm. Adrian has a criminal and civil law background but more recently has gained considerable experience in family law.

Adrian graduated from Murdoch University in 2012 with a Bachelors in Law and Politics and International Studies. He graduated from the College of Law at the end of 2013 and was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in February 2014.
Prior to commencing with James McConvill & Associates, Adrian began his career in the rural city of Albany practicing in a busy civil and commercial law firm until moving back to Perth to practice criminal, civil and family law at a national firm.

Adrian has gained significant Court exposure throughout his legal career and has a friendly, yet authoritative and professional approach with clients. He is a resourceful individual with the ability to assess all issues to effectively protect clients and applicable stakeholders across all backgrounds. He prides himself on client service and dedication to clients' needs, delivering the best possible results.

Christina Ati

Christina Ati is a Lawyer with James McConvill & Associates. Prior to joining the firm, Christina worked in a reputable national law firm practicing predominately in family law and criminal law.

Christina is passionate about family law and has represented clients in various child related proceedings and financial proceedings. She has represented clients, whether married or de facto, in all areas of family law including relocation matters, negotiation and complex financial matters. Christina also has a range of experience in criminal law matters including representing clients in Perth Children's Court, Magistrates Court and the District Court of Western Australia.

Christina has an immense passion for helping people and places great emphasis on the relationships she develops with clients to ensure they are familiar with their legal options and provides support and understanding throughout their legal matters.

Christina is admitted as an officer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. She has previous international experience and has presented at the UN Human Rights Council.

Catherine Hill

Catherine Hill is a Lawyer with the firm. Catherine obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Southern Cross University and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University.

Since being admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Catherine has practised primarily in family law. She has experience in a wide range of family law issues including parenting matters, financial settlements, and child relocation issues. She appreciates the sensitive nature of family law, and that each clientís needs and circumstances are individual to them, and she works with them to achieve the best possible outcome. Catherine also has gained valuable experience in the areas of wills and probate and criminal law. Prior to working at James McConvill & Associates, she worked at a generalist law firm where she worked in family law, wills and estates, litigation and conveyancing. Catherine has a keen interest in social justice, and is a member of both the General Family Law and General Criminal Law Panels for Legal Aid New South Wales.

Prior to working in law, Catherine worked in publishing in both London and New York. She grew up in Paris and speaks and writes fluent French. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her children, cooking and travelling.

Maka Atanasov
Adam Arness

Adam Arness is a Lawyer with the firm, having obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at Monash University in 2014. He was admitted as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria in August 2014, after having acquired his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law.

Adam prides himself on his research and writing skills, illustrated by him having been awarded a Monash Law School Prize in 2011 for International Environmental Law. Adam gained early experience in the not-for-profit sector, previously serving as an officer bearer for various local associations whereby he advised on legal compliance whilst dealing with various external stakeholders, and is also one of the youngest Directors of a Community Bank in Australia. Aided by such experiences and commercial acumen, Adam has also worked within an independent government organisation, as well as several generalist law firms in the areas of employment law, wills and estates and family law.

Most recently, Adam was instructing solicitor in a large civil litigation trial in the County Court of Victoria, covering a broad range of legal issues. Adam has a passion for achieving the best outcomes for his clients based on the understanding that their issues and desired outcomes are inherently different and thus, require tailored solutions.

Maka Atanasov
Reem Al Bahadiri

Reem Al Bahadiri is a Lawyer with the firm, having obtained her Bachelor of Laws at Murdoch University in Western Australia in 2014. She was admitted as Lawyer by the Supreme Court of Western Australia in November 2015, after obtaining her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law Australia.

Reem has previously worked for a non-for profit organisation and prior to her employment with James McConvill and Associates, she was employed by a national firm and was practicing in Family, Criminal, Traffic and Civil Law. She is very passionate about Family Law. Reem is bilingual and speaks Fluent English and Arabic. In her spare time, Reem likes to travel, and spend time with family and friends.

Maka Atanasov
Lisa O'Dwyer

Lisa O'Dwyer is admitted as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria and as a Solicitor in the High Court of Australia.

Lisa has experience in family and criminal law and in general law practice.
In her spare time, Lisa has an interest in all things fitness, literary and New York related. She has also been known to travel around the country in pursuit of the best coffee and cake in town.

Michael Rodrigues

Michael is a Lawyer with the firm. Michael is internationally educated, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminology from the University of Western Ontario. He also holds a Juris Doctor from Bond University.

Michaelís background is in sales and marketing, previously working for clients such as IBM, Cannon and Microsoft. Additionally, Michael has also worked within the public sector for both the Canadian and Australian Governments. Based on Michaelís experiences, he has fostered a passion for helping others and building strong community ties. As a Law Clerk, Michael is experienced in a diverse range of jurisdictions across Australia. He has worked closely with clients in relation to employment, family and criminal law matters. Michael also has experience in complex property and commercial transactions in Sydney and Melbourne.

Michael is currently working toward becoming an admitted practitioner in both Canada and New York. Outside of his professional capacity, Michael enjoys healthy active living, motorcycles, investing, reading, construction and travel.

Andrew Levalds

Andrew Levalds is a lawyer with James McConvill and Associates. Before joining our firm, he practiced in a national firm specialising in Criminal, Commercial and Family Law. Andrew also has further qualifications and broad experience working in real estate in commercial, retail and residential property.

Andrew is always focussed and determined to achieve better than anticipated outcomes for his clients. Friendly and approachable, he is attentive and can be relied upon to work tirelessly in resolving issues. You can be assured that you will be given the most prudent, cost effective and practical advice in any matter.

Andrew has already extensive experience in handling all types of legal issues and can be relied upon to negotiate, mediate or fully litigate your legal dispute. Andrew enjoys arguing cases in Court and is a strong and determined client advocate.
Admitted to both the Supreme Court of Western Australia, and High Court of Australia, he is a member of both the Criminal Law Association of Western Australia and Family Law Practitioners Association of Western Australia.

Brett Jones
Brett Jones

Brett Jones is a Law Clerk for James McConvill & Associates. Brett has a Certificate IV in Private Investigation, an Advanced Diploma in Legal Practice, a Bachelor Degree in Information Technology Computer Science and Software Development and a Bachelor Degree in Law.

Brett has been an essential part of the team by providing support in Family Law, Property, Civil Law and Wills and Probate Law.

Gary Mrocki

Gary is a Law Clerk with the firm. Gary has an extensive background in consumer and commercial finance as a finance broker / consultant for 30 years. Gary also lectures at a university level in Sports Law involving negligence, contract, drugs, restraint of trade and criminal law in sport. Gary is also a current PHD student and enrolled to undertake a short course Masters of Sports Law.

Prior to joining James McConvill and Associates Gary was employed for 6 months by the South Australian Government as a legal secretary to five senior Crown solicitors within the Department of Planning Transport and infrastructure as well as a legal intern with the Football Federation Australia in Sydney. Outside of work, Gary enjoys AFL soccer, cricket and golf.

Ewan McAuslan

Ewan McAuslan is a Law Clerk with the firm. Ewan seeks to be admitted as a solicitor with the Supreme Court of Victoria later in 2017.
Ewan is a friendly and dedicated team member. He primarily works within the firm's family law team, although his strong criminal law experience means he also assists with any criminal matters that may arise.

Having graduated from Victoria University in 2015 with First Class Honours in Law, Ewan currently works with the aim of honing his skills prior to admission. Once an admitted solicitor, Ewan seeks to advocate alternate dispute resolution as a means of providing clients with a win-win approach to resolving family law disputes. Ewan understands that family disputes often require ongoing relationships, and that mutually agreeable outcomes are best at providing long lasting and favourable results.

Angela Crawford

Angela Crawford is a Paralegal for the firm. Angela has more than 22 yearsí experience as a paralegal, and has provided legal support in all phases of litigation (including trial preparation and support) involving family law, contract and business matters, personal injury, and professional liability. She is an experienced project manager and is trained to effectively and cost-effectively implement complex litigation support, including document management, review and e-discovery.

Angela has worked and travelled overseas to work with international clients managing voluminous document productions with a team of lawyers and paralegals on several different occasions.

Angela completed a Bachelor in Political Science at University of North Carolina and completed the Philadelphia Institute of Paralegal Studies course in January 1994.

Stuart Amos

Stuart Amos is a Law Clerk with the firm and is currently completing his Bachelor of Laws degree at Bond University. During his law studies, he has participated in various mooting events and enjoys advocacy. Stuart is focusing on Family Law and working towards completing the qualifications to be able to conduct Family Dispute Resolution.

Prior to commencing his Law degree, Stuart has been in various senior management roles within the wine industry and Managing Director of his own consultancy company. Stuart has commenced his professional career as a legal assistant/paralegal at James McConvill & Associates and brings with him a mature outlook and professional approach. He has perfected many skills that are essential in a legal career such as time-management, attention to detail, researching and analytical skills. Stuart applies these skills in his work by his dedication to taking on various tasks within the firm and providing excellent client satisfaction.

Khaled Wahab

Khaled Wahab is a Paralegal with the firm, and is currently completing his Juris Doctor degree at Bond University. Khaled is the Founder and President of the Bond University Mooting Association. Additionally, Khaled is the Competitions Director of the Canadian Law Students Association.

Khaled earned his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Global Studies and Sociology from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. During his undergraduate degree, Khaled founded Laurier Afghan Students Association at Wilfrid Laurier University. Khaled also served as the Policy Manager for the Wilfrid Laurier Studentsí Union.
Prior to studying Law at Bond University, Khaled worked in various professional capacities. Khaled was a Paralegal Assistant at AR Paralegals in Canada from 2011 to 2013. As a Paralegal Assistant Khaled acquired knowledge and practical legal skills in a wide range of practice areas including small claims court litigation, landlord and tenant disputes, municipal law, employment, personal injury law, and traffic offences. Moreover, Khaled has held retail positions with reputable companies such as TD Canada Trust Bank, Bell Aliant Canada, and MBW Shoes.
Khaledís enterprising spirit, versatility, and passion for the law, complemented by his professional, academic and volunteer experiences demonstrate his valuable contribution to the firm.

Alan Reynolds

Alan Reynolds is a Paralegal with James McConvill & Associates. Alan holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from St Johnís College in the United States and a Master of International Relations degree from the University Melbourne.

He is a final year as a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Melbourne Law School. Alan received the 2017 Australian Italian Lawyers Association Award for Cross Border Litigation and the 2017 Sir George Patton Prize for International Commercial Law and Disputes for his scholastic achievements at MLS.

Beth Warren

Beth Warren is Marketing Consultant for the firm. Beth has more than twenty years experience as a marketing expert, including as Marketing Consultant for several large shopping centres.

Beth is highly organised, having a methodical approach to getting the job done with a passion to deliver outstanding customer service. She is a professional speaker and has compered numerous professional and charitable events. Beth has undertaken tertiary studies in psychology and sociology developing understanding and empathy of sensitive issues particularly relating to families. Beth has natural warmth and rapport that immediately puts people at ease.

Kim Younger
Kim Younger

Kim is an Associate Business Manager with James McConvill & Associates. Kim has many years experience as a Senior Partnerís Secretary, commencing her career in the Legal Aid Commission in Queensland then furthering her prospects in private practice with a leading Criminal Law firm. She was instrumental in brief preparation, assisting Barristers at trials in the District, Supreme and High Court as well as attending call-overs and Correctional Centre visits. She also has experience in Queensland Litigation and Estate work. Kim was attracted by James McConvill & Associates' down to earth approach and considers our firm to be the "Uber of Law Firms"
